Visit a Working Dairy: Young’s Jersey Dairy
Young’s Jersey Dairy, 6880 Springfield-Xenia Road, Yellow Springs, Ohio, is open every day of the year (except for Christmas Day). Young’s ice cream is made in small batches right at the farm from a 15% butterfat mix (pasteurized milk, cream, and sugar mixture). There are lots to choose from, but Road Trip Foodies shouldn’t miss the flavor of the week, varying from plain old French Vanilla to super scrumptious Chocolate Chunk Black Cherry or even Caramel Chocolate Toffee. Breakfast, lunch, dinner — or just dessert — are served in the Golden Jersey Inn. There are rides and a petting zoo, too — so this is a great stop for families on the road. Young’s 33rd Annual Fall Farm Pumpkin Festival is September 26 and 27, 2009.
