Curaçao’s newest addition to its eclectic mix of culinary options is Angelica’s Kitchen, where guests play two roles: that of chef and gourmand. Angelica’s Kitchen is situated in a restored house in the historic Otrobanda district in Willemstad, Curaçao. Here, Angelique Schoop initiates you in the culinary secrets of the island.
A typical cooking class at Angelica’s Kitchen would be as follows: The guests arrive at 6 p.m. and get accustomed to the idea that they are doing the cooking. By 6:30 p.m. the guests are transformed in to chefs (!), with their apron and utensils. Angelique demonstrates some elements of the recipes, and puts 2 or 3 cooks to work on each dish. Meals usually include two appetizers “to get the taste buds tingling”, a first course, the main course and, finally, dessert. The evening ends after the meal is savored, usually around 10:30 p.m.
