christmas_ornamentsDecember’s a great time to take a roadtrip to New Orleans, Louisiana. Start winter off right with “Tales of the Toddy”, a holiday celebration with a cocktail twist. Sponsored by the same folks who do Tales of the Cocktail (New Orleans Culinary and Cultural Preservation Society), the focus is the same: drinks prepared by mixologists. “Making Spirits Bright” is 5:30-8:30 p.m. December 10, 2009, at the W Hotel, 333 Poydras Street, New Orleans, Louisiana. Tickets are $10.

Participating mixologists are: Arnaud’s French 75—Chris Hannah, Carousel Bar—Marvin Allen, Coquette—Cole Newton, Crescent City School of Bartending—Stahili Glover, Cure—Neal Bodenheimer, Cure—Rhiannon Enlil, Domenica—Michael Glassberg, Dos Jefes—Talia Neal, Irvin Mayfield’s Jazz Playhouse—Tiffany Soles, Pernod Ricard USA-Chris Patino, Ritz Carlton—Daniel Victory and Whiskey Blue—Lisa Nahay. Food? Of course, there’s food (this is N’Awlins!). Participating eateries are: a Mano, Arnaud’s, Boucherie, Cure, Jackson Restaurant, La Cote Brassierie, Pelican Club, Royal House Oyster Bar, Squeal Barbecue, Tomatillo’s and ZOE.
