Tamale Festival

Headed to southern California in December? Consider a sidetrip to the Indio International Tamale Festival in Indio, California, set for December 5 and 6, 2009 (it’s always the first weekend in December). Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, and the location is downtown Indio (where the weather for early December is expected to be a sunny 79 degrees during the day and a cool 40 degrees at night). Do plan ahead: more than 125,000 visitors are expected over the two-day festival.
