The Ultimate Local Food: Your Own Garden
Why would a Road Trips Foodie add a garden show to a travel itinerary? Check out these presentations at the Boston Flower & Garden Show (March 24-28, 2010): Cooking with maple syrup, heirloom vegetables, cooking from the orchard, thyme for pesto, making infused oils from everyday plants (and, yes, there are more). The show is held at the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center, One Seaport Lane, Boston, Massachusetts.
New this year is the Garden of Cakes — creations by some of the region’s top professional cake artists. Another special feature during the show is the English Garden Tea in the Aura Restaurant at the Seaport Hotel. There will be two seatings: 2-3:30 p.m. and 4-5:30 p.m. — each day of the Flower Show. A menu of assorted teas, tea sandwiches, fruit tarts, scones and Devonshire cream with strawberry jam will be served for $29 per person, but plan ahead. Advance reservations are required: call 617:385-4300 and ask for the Flower Show Tea.
