Tasty Traverse
Road Trips Foodies who want to meet and chat with the butchers and bakers, fishermen and brewers, cheesemakers and candymakers whose creations have helped to turn Traverse City, Michigan, into a “foodie’s paradise have several ways do do it: on your own serendipitously, following a self-guided foodie tour or joining a guided tour. The town’s Visitors Center (corner of Union Street and Grandview Parkway on the edge of downtown) has ideas, maps — and “Tasty Traverse”, a brochure with a map and instructions for a self-guided foodie tour. (The picture, at left, is one of the stops: Pleva’s Meats, 8974 South Kasson Street, Cedar, Michigan.)
If you’d rather take a guided tour, start here: Culinary Escapes. For more on visiting the region, go online.
