Yes, Road Trips Foodies, you read that headline correctly. This is, indeed, the 114th year for Strawberry Days in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The dates are June 17, 18 and 19, 2011.
The first strawberry picnic in June 1897 was a small neighborly gathering: an opportunity to share the bounty of the strawberry harvest and celebrate the warm days ahead. These days, it’s rather more of a regional festival, complete with entertainment and artisans.
The food court includes a wide variety of food and beverages for sale, but some say they come to Strawberry Days just for the century-old tradition of free strawberries and ice cream served at Strawberry Park after Saturday’s parade.
