Wine? Brandy, Too!
It’s not enough, Road Trips Foodies, that Chateau Chantal makes its own wine. It now has an oak-aged brandy on offer.
Christened “Cinq à Sept” (literally, “five to seven,” a French Canadian term for “Happy Hour”) it was distilled from fermented Northern Michigan grapes on location at Chateau Chantal, and has been aged for five years in French oak. It boasts a golden color and rich caramel flavor displaying notes of honey, spice, and butterscotch.
If you’re wandering Michigan and thirst for a wine tasting, Chateau Chantal is open daily, year round (except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day), at 15900 Rue de Vin, Traverse City, Michigan (map).
Know when you’ll be there? Consider signing up for a wine seminar or cooking class! The 2012 schedule is online.
