Masterclasses, tutored tastings, food talks and guided walks spice up the Food Festival, set for September 15 and 16, 2012, in Abergavenny, Monmouthshire, Wales, United Kingdom (map).

Start off browsing among the more than 200 food and drink vendors, Road Trips Foodies, but plan ahead to participate in one of the special events.

Among the masterclasses are Malaysian Street Food with Norman Musa, Easy Fish Suppers with Mitch Tonks and Jane Baxter, and Chinese Home Cooking with Fuchsia Dunlop.

Tutored tastings feature raw milk, the perfect martini and the gourmet harvest of West Wales.

Food talks include “From Wild Food to Window-Boxes” with Adele Nozedar and Tom Moggach, “Herbs for Flavor and Digestion” by Jekka McVicar and :Garlic: The Mighty Bulb” with Natasha Edwards and Colin Boswell.

Walks and Forays targets include mushrooms, hedgerow treats and wild estuary foods.

Festival hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. — except Market Hall & Cross Street, which stay open until 7 p.m. September 15.
