Vendemmia Wine Festival
The Vendemmia Festival is the biggest fall party in Wilmington, Delaware.
More than 2500 wine enthusiasts will gather between 2 and 6 p.m. October 7, 2012, in Tubman Garrett Park on the riverfront (map) to celebrate the harvest of the grapes by sampling wines from every region in Italy as well as delicacies prepared by area restaurants and bakeries.
The festivities include four hours of live musical entertainment, handcrafted wine and homemade gravy contests (Carmelina Frankosky won first place for her gravy in 2011).
It’s all sponsored by the Società da Vinci, a 501C(3) charity whose mission is to promote and advance the cultural heritage of the Italian people through education, service, charity and community events.
Road Trips Foodies who are planning to drive on over should note that the rain date is October 14, 2012. Tickets at the gate are $60.
