Sweet Carolina Cupcakes, a bakery from the Lowcountry, will open a new location at 38 Whitaker Street, Savannah, Georgia (map) this week.

The ribbon cutting (complete with free mini-cupcake samples) takes place at 11 a.m. Thursday (September 13, 2012).

Sweet Carolina Cupcakes will also host an open house from 11 a.m. til 9 p.m. Saturday (September 15, 2012), featuring cupcake specials throughout the day and live music starting at 6 p.m.

The new location includes an on-site bakery and dine-in area (think: dessert after a meal at one of Savannah’s many restaurants).

Sweet Carolina Cupcakes, based on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, specializes in unique flavor combinations created from family recipes that rotate daily, including vegan-friendly and gluten-free menu items. Featured favorites include Coconut Snowball, Salted Caramel, Raspberry Zinger, Mocha Latte, Snickerdoodle, After Dinner Mint, Low Country Lemon and Sweet Carolina, a signature pink velvet cake. Traditional flavors include Key Lime, Red Velvet, Classic Vanilla, Classic Chocolate, Carrot Cake and Peanut Butter Cup.

Store hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 7 p.m.
