La Fête du Citron

france_menton_feteducitronYour Road Trips Foodie confesses that the Lemon Festival in Menton, France, is definitely on her bucket list.

Officially La Fête du Citron, this zesty fest is a carnival celebration taking place from February 16, 2013, to March 6, 2013, in “the City of Lemons” in the French Alpes-Maritimes region.

Centerpiece is the golden citrus parade (imagine floats festooned with more than 145 tons of oranges and lemons, some as tall as 33 feet), but then there also are the fanciful citrus creations in the Jardins Biovès and the festive atmosphere (it’s said to be the second most important event on the Riviera after Nice Carnival and is just ahead of the Monaco Formula 1).
