America’s Home Town Eats
The fifth annual Food Fest: Serving America’s Home Town Eats takes place March 23 and 24, 2013, in the French Market, 1008 North Peters Street (in the French Quarter), New Orleans, Louisiana (map).
It features “non-franchised, sleeves-up food made by cooks, bakers, pit masters, and sandwich-makers who are America’s culinary folk artists”. There’s also a VIP crawfish boil, a beignet-eating contest, live music and cooking demonstrations.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 23 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. March 24. Admission is free.
Road Trips Foodies who have a sweet tooth might want to come in a day early to sample chocolates, cookies, candies, cakes, pies and other deliciousness at America’s Hometown Sweets. It takes place from 8 to 10 p.m. March 22, 2013, in Cafe Reconcile, 1631 Oretha C Haley Boulevard, New Orleans, Louisiana. Tickets are $50 each for this event.
