Submitted by on March 26, 2014 – 8:19 amNo Comment

japan_sake_dassaiIt’s Cherry Blossom Festival time in Washington, D.C. (March 20 through April 13, 2014), so what better time to schedule a sake tasting?

Sample what’s said to be the world’s top 1% of sake produced at the Grand Sake Tasting, along with shochu and craft beer from more than 20 Japanese brewers.

Tasters who find something they like will have the opportunity to bid on bottles of sake, beer and shochu to take home. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Inc., a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

The Grand Sake Tasting starts at 7 p.m. April 3, 2014, in the Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square, Washington, D.C. Tickets start at $100 per person.

Insider tip: The National Park Service predicts that peak bloom will be from April 8 to 12 this year.
