newyork_caldwell-house-b&bMint on the pillow? So passé!

At the Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast, 25 Orrs Mills Road, Salisbury Mills, New York, it’ll be a miniature pie that rests atop a pillow, waiting to be discovered by Road Trips Foodies as part of the inn’s nightly turndown service.

And not just any pie – this fall, the inn’s got a schedule to keep.

“We wanted to put the ‘sweet’ back in ‘sweet dreams’” said Dena Finneran, who co-owns the bed and breakfast with her husband, John. “Anyone can do a mint. We wanted to offer something fun and really delicious this fall when pie season is in full swing.”

Mrs. Finneran, a culinary artist with a cookbook on the way, makes every miniature pie herself using seasonal fruits for filling and locally sourced produce whenever possible. The inn has put together a two-month ‘Sweet Dreams’ Pie Calendar of its miniature culinary treats but guests who call ahead may request their favorite pie for pre-slumber bliss.

Here’s the ‘Sweet Dreams’ Mini Pie* Calendar to schedule your journey if you have a particular favorite:

September 1 through 7: Blueberry Pie
September 8 through 14: Blueberry Peach Pie
September 15 through 21: Peach Pie
September 22 through 28: Pecan Pie
September 29 through October 5: Apple Pie
October 6 through 12: Apple & Pear Crumble Pie
October 13 through 19: Apple Pecan Pie
October 20 through 26: Pumpkin Pie
October 27 through 31: Pumpkin Pecan Pie

(Of course, there’s the usual disclaimer: Mini pies subject to change based on seasonal availability.)

The Caldwell House Bed and Breakfast, built in 1802, is a member of the Select Registry and Diamond Collection groups of Inns. (Do note that there’s free WiFi.)
