Taste and Tour
It’s a chance to visit an elegant estate, sip local wine and “Travel Back in Time”. A Taste and Tour takes place from 5:45 to 8 p.m. December 13, 2014, in the Felt Estate, 6597 138th Avenue, Holland, Michigan.
There’s a guided tour at 6:05 p.m. — but this is an open house, Road Trips Foodies. That means you are welcome to arrive anytime between 5:45 and 8 p.m. If you arrive after the start of the guided tour project manager Patty Meyer, you may join the guided tour or take a self-guided tour.
The $20 per person admission price includes wine from Fenn Valley Winery.
In keeping with the season’s “Travel Back in Time” holiday theme at the estate, representatives of the winery will explain the European roots of Michigan wines.
You must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol. Guests under 21 are welcome but will not be served wine.
The Felt Estate was built by Dorr Eugene Felt, who, in 1919, purchased several hundred acres on Lake Michigan in the rolling dunes between Holland and Saugatuck, naming his estate “Shore Acres Farm.” In 1886, Felt had invented the first office processing machine, the Comptometer, which was able to perform quickly and accurately four math functions. It was an instant success and made Dorr Felt a millionaire.
