belgium_geuze+lambicIf Belgian beer is your favorite, Road Trips Foodies, consider heading across the pond for the Toer de Geuze in Pajottenland, Belgium.

It’s the 10th edition of this biennial event, set for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 3, 2015. You can do the tour with own means of transport (car, bike, scooter), or you can reserve a seat on one of the Toer de Geuze busses.

The lambic breweries and gueuze blending houses open their doors to the public with free guided tours and a chance to sample lambic, gueuze, kriek and other lambic beers.

The participating breweries and blenderies:
Boon: Fonteinstraat 65, 1502 Lembeek
De Troch: Langestraat 20, 1741 Wambeek
3 Fonteinen: Hoogstraat 2A, 1650 Beersel
Hanssens Artisanaal: Vroenenbosstraat 15/1, 1653 Dworp
Lindemans: Lennikse Baan 1479, 1602 Vlezenbeek

Oud Beersel: Laarheidestraat 230, 1650 Beersel
Tilquin: Chaussée Maïeur Habils 110, 1430 Bierk (Rebecq)
Timmermans: Kerkstraat 11, 1701 Itterbeek
and also the visitor centre De Lambiek, Gemeenveldstraat 1, 1652 Alsemberg (Beersel).

The Toer de Geuze was organized for the first time in 1997. Boon, De Cam, De Troch, 3 Fonteinen, Lindemans and Timmermans opened their doors for the public. Since then the open brewery day of the Payottenland and the Valley of the Senne has become a biannual event. It’s sponsored by the High Council for Artisanal Lambic Beers (Hoge Raad voor Ambachtelijke Lambikbieren).
