Food Dialogues In Minneapolis

Submitted by on July 24, 2015 – 8:26 amNo Comment

minnesota_food-dialoguesThe Food Dialogues®: Minneapolis will bring together a panel of leaders in the “food space”, including food and retail executives, and farmers for a conversation about what more can be done to bridge the information gap between food production practices, consumer concerns on health and the environment and the choices that are being made when sourcing food products.

This event, scheduled for August 11, 2015, will be moderated by Bloomberg agriculture policy journalist and Minnesota native, Alan Bjerga.

“Farmers, ranchers and food executives have the ability to be even more connected to consumers than ever before,” said Gene Stoel, Soybean Grower and MN Soybean Research and Promotion Council Board Member. “Yet, more must and can be done. This Food Dialogue panel discussion will tackle tough questions related to food production – from GMO safety to animal welfare. Agriculturalists are seeking opportunities to speak directly with food companies, key decision makers and ultimately the consumer. Every time food production practices are discussed, we would like to be in the conversation.”

The Food Dialogues®: Minneapolis is co-sponsored by the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council, Nebraska Soybean Board and the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance®. It will be held at the Mill City Museum, 704 South Second Street, Minneapolis, Minnesota, with check-in and a networking reception beginning at 5:30 p.m. The panel discussion will begin at 7 p.m. Registration is available online.

The Food Dialogues® signature events are designed to bring together farmers, ranchers, industry experts, scientists, media and consumers for panel discussions of topics related to food and food production. Since its launch in 2011, the U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance® has hosted more than 25 panels across the country.

The Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council is the elected board of soybean producers from Minnesota who direct investments of the state’s checkoff dollars in programs designed to increase profitability to Minnesota soybean farmers.

The nine-member Nebraska Soybean Board collects and disburses the Nebraska share of funds generated by soybeans sold. Nebraska soybean checkoff funds are invested in research, education, domestic and foreign markets, including new uses for soybeans and soybean products.

U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance® is a group of 90 farmer- and rancher-led organizations and agricultural partners leading a movement to answer questions about how food is grown and raised.
