Warrens Cranberry Festival
Have you ever visited a cranberry marsh, Road Trips Foodies? That’s one of the options at the Warrens Cranberry Festival, billed as the world’s largest cranberry festival — with more than 1000 booths.
Among the 80+ food vendors you’ll find pancakes with cranberry syrup, cranberry cream puffs and (of course) fresh cranberries. Did I mention that the cranberry is Wisconsin’s state fruit? There have been cranberry marshes in the state since the 1830s.
Although the festival is September 23 through 25, 2011, in Warrens, Wisconsin, the tours are just two days — September 23 and 24. They take place between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.; tickets are $6 per person. That gets you not only a guided tour of an active cranberry marsh, a chance to purchase fresh cranberries and cranberry products and free admission to the Wisconsin Cranberry Discovery Center on Main Street.
