Natural Cider Festival
A Natural Cider Festival will be held July 6 through 8, 2012, in Nava, Asturias, Spain.
Held annually since 1969, the festival includes concerts, exhibitions, theater performances, and, of course, free cider tastings.
Wear a green handkerchief around your neck, and you can drink all the free cider you want all weekend long.
Cider, a signature product of Asturias, is controlled. It is made from apple varieties traditionally cultivated to make cider in the protected production area, which comprises the Principality of Asturias’ 78 city councils. It is obtained from the total or partial alcoholic fermentation of the fresh apple or its juice.
This product can be found in the market in three different varieties: Natural cider, natural poured cider, and sparkling cider.
All of them are characterized by a low alcoholic strength between 4º and 6º. Their aroma and flavor are frank, clean, and balanced, while their aspect is bright and transparent.
There’s even a Museum of Cider in Nava.
